The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is totally woke, pushing DEI and a left-wing climate agenda.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has become the world’s largest and wokest business “advocacy” organization. For years, it has been pushing woke policies such as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and the far-left climate agenda, so it’s no wonder it is also supporting legislation in Congress that helps woke companies while hurting consumers.

The Chamber promotes DEI through its “The Business of Diversity” webpage, where the organization states, “We believe a diverse workforce is a business imperative.” The organization also advocates for DEI with its “Equality of Opportunity Initiative” or EOI, which focuses on “employment, entrepreneurship, education, and criminal justice.”

On a since-deleted webpage, the Chamber bragged about launching the EOI to develop “sustainable solutions to help close opportunity gaps in six key areas: education, employment, entrepreneurship, criminal justice, health, and wealth.”

The webpage also stated that in order to break down barriers, companies needed to push for “private and public sector solutions to some of the underlying challenges driving inequality of opportunity for Black Americans and other people of color.”

The Chamber also highlighted its commitment to DEI policies in a 2021 video where the organization explained that the EOI started because “George Floyd’s murder sparked a global movement to drive real change.” In the video’s description, it says that the EOI is there to address the “underlying challenges driving inequality of opportunity for Black Americans and other people of color in six critical areas: education, employment, entrepreneurship, criminal justice, health, and wealth.”
In 2021, the Chamber hosted its annual summit on “Equality of Opportunity,” where U.S. Chamber President Suzanne Clark thanked all their partners who are helping them address DEI. She stated: “This work is a priority for the chamber and our members because as we all know it’s not just a moral imperative, it’s an economic imperative.” She claims it is imperative the Chamber and its members work toward inclusive growth.

The Chamber also partnered with woke companies like American Express to run a multi-year “Coalition to Back Black Businesses” (CBBB) as part of its corporate citizenship work. This program spent 14 million dollars on grants, mentoring/coaching, and resources exclusive to Black business owners only.

The Chamber’s 2022 Impact Report shows that it helped give out $8.1 million of these race-based grants to 1,414 black-owned small businesses across 42 states.

For example, the Chamber gave a grant to Mandi Masden, a struggling actress and puzzle maker, after she “became disenchanted with the artwork used to create them and saw an opportunity to help solve the lack of representation of people of color as artists and subjects in the puzzle world.”

In a 2021 blog post, “Four Ways to Be More Inclusive at Work” the Chamber suggests making “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) a priority” stating: “The pandemic’s disparate impact on segments of the community, combined with highly visible examples of inequity based on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity at work, has forced employers to deliver on DEI objectives.”

The Chamber’s commitment to DEI can be traced all the way back to 2016. The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform hosted a lecture titled: “Dismantling the Machine: The Importance of Diversity in Law Departments.” In this lecture Mark Roellig, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Massachusetts Mutual Financial Group said diversity and inclusion is the best thing to do in companies. He also recommends companies create policies on diversity and define how they will achieve their diversity metrics. He also recommends working with woke groups like the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) that aims to push DEI through legal departments.

The Chamber’s wokeness was also on full display when it publicly supported the so-called “Equality Act,” radical legislation which would enshrine in federal law a right for males to participate in women’s sports and lead to the punishment of small business owners based on their religious beliefs.

The Chamber also prominently features a blog post from Melody Birmingham, the Executive VP at NiSource, titled “Fostering a Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Future.” In the post, Birmingham details the need to prioritize DEI in the energy industry by ensuring her company has so-called “supplier diversity,” expanding diversity programs, and hosting identity-based Employee Resource Groups. She also recommends partnering with Urban League and NAACP on internships and workforce development.

The Chamber also prioritizes a radical climate agenda, stating, “Our climate is changing and humans are contributing to these changes. Inaction is simply not an option.”

The Chamber bragged about attending COP29 and COP30, the United Nation’s long-running woke climate conference.

It’s no surprise given the Chamber’s wokeness that it has come out in support of several pieces of legislation aimed at stripping away a critical resource, litigation finance, that consumers use to fight back against companies pushing political agendas. Litigation finance is a critical tool to oppose woke capitalism in the legal arena. Without it, woke corporate giants can crush consumers who dare to resist having radical policies forced down their throats.
