According to South Korean newspaper JoongAng Ilbo (reported by Reuters), Samsung will announce this month the results of its probe into the notorious exploding Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.
The devices had experienced sudden combustion, leading to property damage (and injury in some cases) and had even been formally banned from flights from the Federal Aviation Administration. It was estimated that the decision to permanently halt sales of the device would lead to a $5.1 billion hit to operating profit over three quarters.
In other news, Samsung unveiled its first new smartphones since the Galaxy Note 7 debacle.
