Consumers’ Research Welcomes New Executive Director
Consumers’ Research is proud to announce that Kyle Burgess will be serving as the organization’s new Executive Director. In her role as Executive Director, she will guide the organization’s mission to educate consumers, regulators, and policy makers on how federal and state laws and regulations, as well as emerging trends, impact the American consumer.
Ms. Burgess was formerly the Director of Strategy for the organization as well as the Editor-in-Chief of Consumers’ Research Magazine. As Director of Strategy, she has led domestic regulatory and policy efforts at Consumers’ Research. As the Editor-in-Chief of CR’s publication, she has written numerous articles, editorials, and research papers on various consumer health, energy, finance, and technology issues and has represented the consumer voice on a number of industry panel discussions.
For the decade before joining Consumers’ Research, Ms. Burgess worked in international development and human rights for a range of private, public, volunteer, non-profit, and multi-national organizations. Ms. Burgess began her career in development while finishing her Bachelor’s degree at American University. Ms. Burgess joined the Peace Corps in 2005 and served in Mali for two years as a small business development volunteer. Upon her return, she simultaneously managed a small business as well as a multi-million dollar grant portfolio for the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). Ms. Burgess received her Master’s degree in International Relations & Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). During her studies, she worked at the United Nations in Geneva and the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC. She also served as Treasurer for two years on the board of A Child for All (ACFA), a non-profit organization that supports vulnerable children in Mali. Ms. Burgess is currently pursuing an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and is expected to complete the part-time program in 2018.
